‘The Power of Siberia will be constructed on-time’
Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee Alexey Miller held a meeting with general contractors. The event took place on August 22 in Moscow and was dedicated to the work progress at Chayandinskoye oil and gas condensate field and the Power of Siberia trunk pipeline construction.
The meeting was attended by the Chairmen of the Gazprom Management Committee, heads of the Company’s structural units and subsidiaries and general contractors for construction – StroyTransNefteGaz, Stroygazconsulting, Stroygazmontazh and Neftegazstroy.
Participants of the event emphasized that the Power of Siberia gas pipeline was being constructed ahead of schedule. At the moment 979 km of gas pipeline are constructed, which is 45% from total length of high-priority section from Chayandinskoye field to Blagoveschensk. 1300 km of gas pipeline will be built by the end of the year as planned. Works currently in progress at the Chayandinskoye field include development drilling of gas wells, construction of the comprehensive gas treatment unit and infrastructure facilities, and follow-up exploration of the oil rim. Gas output at the field will be synchronized with putting the Power of Siberia into operation.
At the event it was specifically underlined that gas supplies via the Power of Siberia will start on December 20, 2019 – within strict correspondence to the Supplementary Agreement to Gazprom and CNPC’s Sales and Purchase Agreement for Russian gas to be supplied via the eastern route.
As a result of the event the assignments were given, aiming at timely implementation of the Power of Siberia construction and Chayandinskoye field development projects.
In 2014 Gazprom and CNPC signed the Sales and Purchase Agreement about supplying Russian gas through eastern route (via the Power of Siberia gas pipeline). The 30-year Agreement provides for gas deliveries to China in the amount of 38 billion cubic meters per year. The resource base for gas supplies to the Power of Siberia gas pipeline will be fields of Yakutia and Irkutsk gas production centers Chayandinskoye and Kovyktinskoye.
